Clinical Therapeutic Effects of Enoxacin (B-MARK¢ç)in Urinary Tract Infection

Abstract
Enoxacin (B-MARKS) is a new antimicrobial agent structurally related to pyridone carboxylic acid. It has a broad spectrum activity against both Grampositive and Gram-negative bacteria including Pseudomonas and aminoglycoside-resistant organisms.
We studied clinical efficacy and tolerance of enoxacin in 25 patients with urinary tract infection and the following results were obtained.
1. Excellent efficacy rate was 72% and efficacy rate was 92% in all patients with UTI.
2. According to diseases, efficacy rates were 100% for acute simple cystitis and acute pyelonephritis, and 75% for non gonococcal urethritis and chronic complicated UTI.
3. According to causative organisms, efficacy rates were 100% for E. coli, Staphy-
lococcus, Klebsiella and Pseudomonas, and 50% for Ureaplasma and Chlamydia.
4. Mild side effects such as nausea and headache were seen in 2 patients and no
abnormalities in the values of laboratory tests were observed in 25 patients.
We consider Enoxacin (B-MARK¢ç) has high efficacy for urinary tract infection.
